Manaakitanga at it’s finest

50 Manuhiri say Kai exceeded their expectations during their hui at Kānihi Māwhitiwhiti pa mid June 2022 and seems to be a nod to the old site, where compliments of kai would flow often.

This was the first catering event held by Kānihi in the newly opened Marae, where a group of kaimahi prepped the dishes the evening before and on the morning of.

For morning tea it was a serving of cake, sandwiches, scones, fresh fruit, tea & coffee.

Followed by a hot Lunch of a signature seafood chowder dish, famous glazed ham on the bone, roasted potato, peas & carrots & delicious stuffing made by none other than Lynette Noble.

A very exciting time for Kānihi as even though this has been done time and time again, this particular event was a first to be followed by many, many more.

Manuhiri also said they had nothing but rave reviews about their experience at our Marae, “We are grateful and blessed to have been so well looked after in such beautiful surroundings by such amazing whanau” said Manuhiri.
