Building Our Future

After much korero and wananga, the decision has been made to rebuild our beloved Pa due to extensive maintenance work needing to be done making it uneconomical.

Already we have had a number of hui and wananga to develop our ideas for the Pa plans ie what it could look and feel like as well as how the Pa can be utilised. The ideas so far are exciting!

There are plenty of opportunities for whanau of Kanihi-Umutahi Hapu to still get involved and have their say. However, the best way to contribute is to attend a Hapu hui. Kānihi Māwhitiwhiti Pā was opened officially on December 4, 2021 with whanau attending from as far as Christchurch. Due to covid, the day was seperated into three groups so whanau & friends could all take part. Those living abroad watched the livestream - streamed in house via the new AV system.
