Uri elect 10 Trustees

February 26 2022 marked the first official AGM of Kānihi Māwhitiwhiti Pā within the new Marae.

The AGM was a mixture of people present & joining in from zoom. The day started with Karakia, Apologies, followed by Floyd King, the pa chairs Annual Report. Allen Webb provided a breakdown of the Financial Report before the move to replace trustees.

After the previous trustees we’re removed, uri nominations entered the floor. Uri elected 11 individuals to take the responsibility of looking after Kānihi Māwhitiwhiti Pa. One individual elected turned down the honour in a decision to allow the next generation of his Whānau to come through. This decision made the remaining 10 elected successful and also unanimous.

The room applauded and cheers we’re heard. A very exciting day for Kānihi.

The 10 freshly elected trustees met for a brief hui before returning to the wharekai for the announcement of Pā Chair, Secretary & Treasurer.

Uri moved swiftly into general business before having a shared kai.

New pā chair Thomas Webb got right into mahi afterwards with the following,

“Tena koutou whanau

Today we held our 1st AGM in our New Pa .

Went over previous minutes and financials. Then elected the New trustees.

Please see photo attached.

We would like to thank the previous trustees for what they have contributed over the last few years.

And moving forward we all know that there is still alot of mahi to be done.

There will be a working Bee at the Marae again to landscape and sow the grounds with grass seeds etc.

For those who are able to make it on the 5th of March again please bring a rake if u have 1 available.

Ngā mihi Thomas”
